First visit from ‘Amadeus Silver II’ requires careful planning from Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf
The 135m long cruise ship ‘Amadeus Silver II’ visited Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf for steel- and paintwork on the vessel’s underwater area.
The project required challenging planning to complete the works within the short timespan allocated. High-pressure washing and grid blasting on the underwater area was carried out at the same time as the steel work and two coats of paint were then applied.
As the vessel was only built in 2015 and therefore very new, as always a great care needed to be taken over the work which was completed in the scheduled ten days and to budget.
To achieve this, the team at Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf worked a second shift and at weekends to ensure the work was finished quickly.
This was the first visit by ‘Amadeus Silver II’ to Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf, however the company is a regular customer with sister vessel ‘Amadeus Silver’ docking previously and the customer was equally pleased with the work carried out in this latest project.
“We are building up a good relationship with the customer, Dr. W. Lüftner Reisen GmbH,” explained Jeen van der Werf, Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, sales manager. “They particularly like our convenient position in central Amsterdam which is a very popular cruise port.” The customer also appreciated the short time of just two and a half hours needed to dock and undock the vessel.
